Music has forever captured his heart and soul, igniting an unwavering passion within him. He has embarked on a relentless journey, constantly seeking growth and mastery in this magnificent realm. Jeevan Lama, a dedicated musician who has had the privilege of becoming a guitarist, vocalist, and band manager for renowned bands “7th Gravity” and guitarist and percussionist for “Night Band”. Sharing his expertise as a guitar tutor in esteemed institutions such as Nepal Music School and Kasthamandap has been an enriching experience. Additionally, he has harnessed his skills as a sound technician at Studio Mandala, perfecting the art of crafting captivating audio. Currently, he has the honor of being the bass player for the dynamic pop/rock band, “Sabin Rai and The Pharaoh,” touring extensively across Nepal and captivating audiences across the globe, from Australia and the USA to the UK, New Zealand, Bahrain, Korea, India, Japan, Thailand, Bhutan, Europe, Qatar, Hongkong, Canada and more. Furthermore, he has actively participated in the establishment of “Laye’le Shikchya,” an organization driven by the vision of providing music-based education opportunities in both urban and rural areas. With every endeavor, he strives to bring the transformative power of music to the world.

Jeevan’s Musical Odyssey:

Jeevan Lama, a name synonymous with passion and dedication in the musical landscape of Nepal, has crafted a journey that harmonizes skill, innovation, and a profound love for music. Born with an innate connection to the rhythmic beats of life, Jeevan has embraced various roles, leaving an indelible mark on the Nepali music scene.

Academic Pursuits:

Jeevan’s musical odyssey commenced with A-levels at Nagarjuna International College (2002-2004). His dedication reached new heights as he achieved Grade 6 proficiency in Rock Guitar from the esteemed Nepal Music Center in Pingalasthan, Gaushala (2008-2011), laying a solid foundation for his future endeavors.

Employment Symphony:

  • Sound Maestro at Studio Mandala (2010-2013): Serving as a Sound Technician, Jeevan orchestrated the technical symphony behind sound recording, amplification, and reproduction. His meticulous work included crafting bed tracks for new songs and ensuring an exceptional auditory experience.
  • Studio Virtuoso and Composer (2010-2017): Jeevan’s versatility shone as he adorned the role of a Studio Session Musician and Composer across various studios. His mastery extended to Bass Guitar and six Strings Guitar, contributing to a plethora of projects and compositions.

“Sabin Rai and The Pharaoh” is a Kathmandu-based Nepali rock band, officially formed in 2016.

The band consists mainly of:

  • Sabin Rai on vocals,
  • Binod Lama Tamang on drums,
  • John Shrestha on guitars,
  • Jeevan Lama on bass,
  • Stephen Tamang as a midi/fx + sound designer and engineer,
  • Subash Gurung as a midi/fx + sound designer and engineer,
  • Abiz Basukala as a screen technician,
  • Jitesh Shakya as a stage manager, and,
  • Nar Bahadur Khatri aka Narayan as a Lighting Designer and Engineer.

Before the addition of Jeevan Lama, John Shrestha, Stephen Tamang aka Steve, Subash Gurung, Abiz Basukala, Jitesh Shakya, and Nar Bahadur Khatri aka Narayan, the band was formerly known as “Sabin Rai and The Electrix”. It existed since 2012 when they have produced a couple of super-hit singles. It was in 2016 that the rest of the members joined and they renamed the band “Sabin Rai and The Pharaoh“. They have been together since the band produced and released a single full-length studio album in 2019 titled “Dhanyavaad” and has released multiple singles like, “Sadhai Timi mero”, and “Baimaani”, etc. which can be found on various digital platforms across the globe. The band has also been recognized and has won numerous awards including 3 Hits FM Music Awards in 2020 for their album title song – “Dhanyavaad”. The Hits FM Music Award is the highest accolade a musician can achieve in Nepal. The band has toured worldwide since making “Sabin Rai and The Pharaoh” one of the most popular bands from Nepal and amongst Nepali-speaking communities worldwide.
